More Pushback: Green Vegas

Craig Bender is a good friend of mine. He knows everything about Sun’s SunRay product line (which also happens to have great environmental characteristics compared to PCs.) He lives in Vegas. This is what he had to say about the city.

  1. Marc Hamilton says

Top Five Reasons Rio is a better city for a Green IT unconference than Vegas:
    1) Jogging along Ipanema Beach is a much better way to burn off calories from that conference lunch than running across Las Vegas Blvd. to get to that next casino
    2) Most cars in Rio run on locally produced, clean burning ethanol fuel, which means you can jog along Ipanema Beach without being suffocated by car exhaust
    3) Rio has an OpenSolaris user group, Vegas doesn’t
    4) The Green Map, http://www.designfor21st.org/proceedings/proceedings/project_rebello.html
    5) While you can find good fresh seafood in Vegas, it was most likely flown in, fresh seafood in Rio most likely was caught that morning along the coast
