Having gone through pilot training, I can tell you simulators only do so much and are already used aggressively. 

As for your new 767 captain taking that flight from NYC to ATL, he didn&#039;t burn one gallon of fuel that was not part of a scheduled route. As much as the flying public may wince, the first time a captain takes the controls of a major airline, it is on a paying route. All prior training for the aircraft was in a simulator.</description>
