I'm just curious how much of Google's interest in this initiative has to do with the fact that their own electric bills must be preposterous. And I don't mean this in the pejorative sense. If any company can capitalize on the kind of data transparency afforded by a smart grid implementation, it's Google.

I was a bit surprised that Eric didn't seem to have any handle on the cost and therefore scale of a commercial wind turbine. Both men are visionaries but only one of them is in the energy business. Isn't it great seeing them come together. The combination of IT 'can do' with the disciplines of power engineering will have awesome consequences.
